The ADB [African Development Bank] Group is a development bank founded in 1964 with the purpose of encouraging economic and social development in Africa. The Group constitutes the African Development Bank [ADB], the African Development Fund [ADF], and the Nigeria Trust Fund [NTF]. ADB furnishes loans and allows to African governments and private companies investing in the regional member countries [RMC] in Africa. It is owned and financed through member governments, and has a public-interest mandate to reduce poverty and encourage sustainable development.
Functions of ADB Bank Group
The ADB has four main functions. First, it furnishes technical help for the formulation and execution of growth projects and programs.Second, it makes loans and equity investments for the economic and social advancement of the regional member countries,
Third, it helps in coordinating growth policies and plans of RMCs.Fourth,it encourages investment of public and private capital for growth aims.The ADB is also needed to impart special attention to national and multinational projects and programs which promote regional integration.
