In the year of 1991, the Centre for Liquid Crystal Research (CLCR) was founded through Prof. S. Chandrasekhar. The CLCR is an independent institution under the administrative control of the DST (Department of Science and Technology), Ministry of Science and Technology. The center is located at Bangalore (Bengaluru) city in Karnataka state in India. FRS as a scientific society certified in the state of Karnataka with the aim to make a centre of quality which will have a focus on basic science, and would also grow a bias towards technology, keeping in line with the foreign trends on liquid crystals materials and devices.
