Christ University was launched of the educational sight of Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the beginner of CMI congregation. Christ University was formerly Christ College (Autonomous) associated to Bangalore University. Launched in July 1969, Christ College got the most preferable educational institution in the city of Bangalore within the first three decades. More than 12,000 students are educated in the campus. The main direction of this institution is the minority Christian students who lag behind in educational opportunities.
