CIHTS Varanasi
Introduction
Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Sarnath, and Varanasi was founded in 1967 at the likes of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) was unreal by Pt. Jawaharlal Lal Nehru in consultation with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with a view to educate the youths of Tibet and the Himalayan border region.
Faculties in CIHTS; four of which are based on the Panchmahavidyas of the Buddhist tradition while the fifth was established to include modern subjects.
Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies was mainly founded with an ethos to educate the emigre youths of Tibet and the students of the Indian Himalayan belt who had lost the chance of going to Tibet for advanced studies and spiritual discourses in Buddhism.
