The premier institute of higher learning in Arts and Commerce near Dispur, the capital of Assam is the Dispur College, which was established in the year 1978 at Gopal Boro Govt. HS School at Ganeshguri, near Dispur as night college of arts stream. The college was shifted to its present location in 1987 by converting the night shift to day shift and opened a new morning shift of arts due to demand. The commerce stream, in the morning shift was introduced in the year 1991. The college is beautifully located at the foothills of the hill “Narakasur” near Ganeshguri Chariali of Dispur. It is situated at Guwahati and affiliated to Gauhati University.
