Step 1: Back up your current data

Note: The financial institution is set to BMO Harris Bank N.A. Retail, SB and should remain the same once Quicken modifications are made.
1. Choose File menu > Backup.

2. Specify which file to back up and where you want the backup saved in the Quicken Backup dialog, and
then click OK.
3. Select the File menu and
a. In Quicken 2009 or earlier: select Backup. The Quicken Backup window opens.
b. In Quicken 2010 or later: select Backup and Restore, then Backup Quicken File. The
Quicken Backup window opens.

4. Make sure the file you want to back up appears in the Backup data file: field (the
file you are currently using is selected by default). If you want to back up a different data file, click Cancel, open the file to backup and repeat step 3.

5. Make sure the On my computer (e.g. CD or floppy disk) option is selected.

6. In the Select the disk drive and path to the backup folder field, click Browse (or Change) and select the location of your removable drive. If your removable drive is not listed, verify the drive is attached to your computer, restart Quicken, and begin at step 3.
7. Select the Add date to file name checkbox to add todays date at the end of the file name. This will ensure the data you are backing up does not overwrite previously backed-up data.


Step 2: Download the latest Quicken update
1. On the Quicken toolbar, click the Update button (or select Tools on the menu bar, then choose One Step Update).
2. Click Update Now.
a. If an update to Quicken is available, Quicken displays a window that describes whats in the update, as well as brief instructions for downloading the update.
b. Youll need to exit Quicken to run the update program.
c. When you exit, all your work is saved, and you can resume working as soon as the update
