I want to know the CF Services offered by All India Institute Of Medical Science AIIMS so can you please tell me?

Cystic fibrosis services are provided at All India Institute Of Medical Science AIIMS by Pediatric Pulmonology and Intensive Care Division of Department of Pediatrics.

CF Services

The components of CF services are as follows:

Diagnostic Services

Sweat Chloride Estimation is performed using indigenously developed method.

Sweat testing is performed thrice a week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon) free of cost but by prior appointment (sweat testing video).

Appointment can be fixed by coming and talking to CF Nurse (Ms Sridevi KN) or on telephone 011 - 26594610 (between 9 AM - 5 PM on any working days).

On an average 600 tests are performed annually.

Genetic Test (Mutation Tests) is provided by Genetics Division of Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, New Delhi.

Prenatal Diagnosis for CF

Provided by Genetics Division of Department of Pediatrics in collaboration with Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of AIIMS

The test can be performed on Chorionic Villous sample or amniotic fluid between 8-11 weeks and 16-18 weeks of pregnancy respectively.)

Clinical Services

CF services are part of Pediatric Chest Clinic. It is held once a week every Thursday 2.00 pm onward in Children OPD.

Every week about 10-12 children with CF are seen.

CF Nurse: Ms Sridevi KN

Freshly diagnosed children with CF are registered in the clinic.

All old patients are followed up interval of 8-12 weeks.

On each visit the patient comes to CF Nurse.

In the clinic, a nurse, and physiotherapist educate the children and their parents about non-pharmacological measures, aerosol therapy and chest physiotherapy.

Other Clinical Services

All other investigations including admission in wards for intravenous antibiotics, bronchoscopy, imaging etc are provided in collaboration with other departments of AIIMS.

Telephonic / Email Consultations

CF patients from far off places are encouraged to follow up with Pediatricians locally and come to AIIMS once in 6-12 months to AIIMS.

They may contact by telephone or by email to consultants (Professor S K Kabra - 09868397540 or skkabra@hotmail.com) after 7 PM.

Children with CF requiring intravenous antibiotics are admitted in pediatric wards.

Care of Emergency Problems

Children with CF having any acute problem may contact telephonically to consultants.

If needed may visit Pediatric Emergency Services of AIIMS.

On all working days children with CF are encouraged to contact CF nurse on all working days between 9 AM to 5 PM in case of problems.
