Hello sir, my brother is preparing for CGL Exam of SSC. He wants to know that which exam pattern is provided to candidates for SSC CGL exam.

The Staff Selection Commission is officially announced a change in SSC CGL Exam Pattern. According to the new SSC CGL Exam Pattern, the exam will now be conducted in 4 stages – Tier I (Prelim), Tier II (Main), Tier III (Descriptive), Tier IV (Data Entry Skills Test/ Computer Proficiency Test).

The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated:

Tier -I — Written Examination (Computer Based)
Tier -II — Written Examination (Computer Based)
Tier -III — Descriptive Test (Pen and Paper Mode)
Tier -IV — Data Entry Skill Test(DEST)/Computer Proficiency Test(CPT) (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification


SSC CGL Tier I Pattern:
CGL Tier I Exam Pattern:
It is an objective Type Online Exam.

Subject Questions Marks
General Intelligence & Reasoning 25 50
General Awareness 25 50
Quantitative Aptitude 25 50
English Comprehension 25 50

Exam pattern:
There are 100 questions consisting of 200 Marks.

Time Duration is 75 minutes (1:15 hours) for 100 questions.
There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I Exam

Tier I paper will be SHORTENED to 100 questions (worth 200 marks) and 75 minutes.
Both Tier I and Tier II papers will be conducted ONLINE.
There will be NEGATIVE MARKING of 0.5 marks per wrong answer in Tier I exam. All papers except English in the Tier II exam will also have negative marking of 0.5 marks per wrong answer. Each wrong answer in English in Tier II will have a penalty of 0.25 marks.
A DESCRIPTIVE Paper has been added as the third stage after the change in SSC CGL Exam Pattern.
The Descriptive Paper will be BILINGUAL – available in both English and Hindi. You can choose any one medium.
The Descriptive Paper will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode.
The final marking will only consider the scores of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III exams.
There will be NO SECTIONAL CUT OFFS.
Tier I exam is scheduled to be held from 27th August to 11th September
Tier II exam is tentatively scheduled for November
Tier III and Tier IV exams are tentatively scheduled to be held simultaneously in January
Final results will be tentatively announced in last week of April
