1. PREAMBLE The purpose of post-graduate education in Science is to create highly skilled manpower in specific areas, which will lead to generation of new knowledge and creation of wealth for the country. Chemistry is a fundamental science and has contributed immensely to the improvement of the life of human beings by providing many of human requirements and essentialities. Chemistry is important to the world economy as well. The developments in Chemistry during last few decades are phenomenal. It is also seen that these developments are crossing the traditional vertical boundaries of scientific disciplines; the more inclination is seen towards biological sciences.
