Fordham University is a private research university in New York City, founded by the Catholic Diocese of New York in 1841. It is the oldest Catholic university in the north eastern United States, 3rd oldest university in New York, and only Jesuit University in New York City.

Ranking

In 2017, the Fordham University was ranked by the U.S. News & World Report no. 61 in "Best National Universities," and ranked no. 49 under "High School Counselor Rankings"; it was also ranked no. 195 of the best universities in the world for arts and humanities.

In 2016, Forbes ranked it at no. 145 among "Americas Best Colleges" and the 70th best research university in the country, while Kiplinger ranked it at no. 61 among private institutions for Best Values in Colleges and Universities in 2016.

In 2014, Business Insider ranked it no. 131 on a list of "The 600 Smartest Colleges in America," based on the student bodys average SAT scores.

The Gabelli School of Business, undergraduate was ranked no. 8 of "Undergraduate International Business Rankings" by the U.S. News & World Report in 2017, and in 2016, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked it the 27th best undergraduate business school in the nation

Globally, it was ranked 90th amongst the "Worlds top 100 universities for producing millionaires," as compiled by THE in 2013. According to The New York Times, it was ranked at no. 8 out of 71 "highly selective private colleges" yielding the greatest overall social mobility.
