General Information About CAT Exam

Hi I want to prepare for the CAT exam so can you please tell me some general information about CAT exam so I can have an idea??

Well the Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India.

The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).


There are 3 sections of the test are,

Quantitative Ability (QA)

Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC), and

Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR).


The total duration of the test is 180 minutes or 3 hours. However, each section of the test has a time limit of 1 hour each.

The test takers cannot switch between the sections and have to attend the test in a particular order.

The order of the sections is-

VRC

DI & LR, and

QA

CAT Eligibility

Hold a Bachelor’s Degree,with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Able (DA) category)


CAT EXAM PATTERN



CAT Exam pattern changes every year. This year too the same pattern is said to be followed. The marks allotted for each section is given in the table below:

The exam will have 3 sections :
