Fees
Master Level Course in Remote Sensing and GIS shall have to pay course fee of Rs 2 lacs in four Semesters (Fifty thousands per semester) in addition to the fee prescribed by the University for Master's Degree Program in Sciences .

Eligibility
The minimum qualification required for admission to M.sc Remote Sensing and GIS course shall be a Bachelor's Degree in Science / BCA / Engineering / Agriculture / Forestry and Bacholer's Degree in Arts with Geography is one of the subjects from any recognized Indian University.

Admission through Entrance Test (50% of seats reserved for the J&K Permanent Residents).

The Statutes governing Master's degree Programme in the Faculty of Sciences will be applicable to Master degree programme in Remote Sensing and GIS.

Entrance Test
The test shall be conducted at University of Jammu at a date and time as notified.

The syllabus of the written test for admission to Master Level Course in Remote Sensing & GIS consists of General Knowledge and Current Affairs, English, Comprehension, Numerical ability and Data Sufficiency.

The syllabus along with a Model Question Paper for the examination is given inAnnexure-II.

TITLE: Information Technology in Remote sensing and GIS
Maximum Marks: 100 Credit: 4 Time allowed: 3 hours
Semester Examination: 80
Internal Assessment: 20

Unit-1
Information technology infrastructure: Hardware, Software and Data,
System and applications softwares, enterprise softwares,
Languages, types of languages, information technology tool, digital technology,
Binary number system, ASCII and UNICODE coding.

Unit-2
Basics of data arrangement and access, file environment,
DBMS, logical data model, physical and logical views,
Data warehouses, meta data and global databases,
Spatial databases available for natural resources and terrain.

Unit-3
Telecommunication systems, wired and wireless communication, networking,
Major types of networks-LAN, WAN, MAN etc., distributed processing, mobile and wireless applications,
Network communications software, network processing strategies,
Internet, WWW, web server, client, web browser.

Unit-4
Introduction to C-language, C-language-constant and variable, operators: Mathematical, relational, logical, binary, unary, ternary
Statements and their types, keywords, header files, Preprocessor, loops, conditional statements,
Arrays, single dimensional, double dimensional arrays,
Function types, library functions, user defined functions, call by value and call by reference.

Unit-5
String manipulation function, strings and pointers,
Structures and unions, enumerations
Files, types of files, modes of files.
Introduction to data structure-arrays, stack, linked list, queue.
