Default Re: MAT Number of Questions

MAT or the Management Aptitude Test conducted by All India Management Association is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams conducted for more than 500 B-schools across India

A merit list is prepared on the basis of which candidates in the merit list get admission in MBA colleges across India.

Exam Structure

Duration
150 minutes

Number of Questions
200, 40 in each section

Marking Scheme
1 mark per question
Negative Marking
¼ of the total marks or 0.25 mark

Number of Sections
5

Number of Options
4

Sections
Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Indian and Global Environment

Mode
MAT is conducted in both paper-pencil based and computer based modes.
While the paper pencil based test is conducted first, on the first Sunday of the exam month, the computer-based test is conducted on the next Saturday onwards.
The number of slots and days for this mode depends on the number of applicants applying for the CBT mode.

Duration
The total duration of MAT is 2 hours 30 minutes or 150 minutes.
There is no sectional time limit but the exam authorities suggest allotting around 30 minutes for each section.
The test takers can move to and fro between the sections.

Sections
There are 5 sections, Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Indian and Global Environment. While there are 40 questions in each section, the scores of the Indian and Global Environment are not considered by the participating B-schools for the short listing.

Marking Scheme

Each question bears 1 mark and there is negative marking scheme of ¼ marks i.e. 0.25 marks.
The total marks of the exam are 200 and the scaled score is given out of 800.
The difficulty level of the exam ranges from Easy to Moderate.
The syllabus of MAT is similar to the other MBA entrance exams.
