Re: What's BITSAT

Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is for granting admissions to various First Degree Programmes of Engineering in Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. The competition for this exam is very intense.

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria:
• One must have passed the 12th exam from a recognized central or state board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Also, one must have adequate proficiency in English.
• One should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology subjects in 12th exam. One must secure minimum 60% marks in each of these subjects individually.
• Only Students, who are appearing for 12th exam in current year or who have passed 12th Exam last/previous year, is eligible to appear in the online test.
• One having first rank in all the central and state boards in India is given direct admission to the programme of the choice, irrespective of their BITSATscore as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

BITSAT Pattern:

BITSAT is a 3 hour exam without breaks.

The test consists of four parts:

Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics (For B.E & B. Pharm candidates) or Biology (For B. Pharm candidates)

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions)
Each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice
Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.
Un-attempted questions are given zero marks.
There will be 150 questions in the BITSAT paper.
The number of questions in each part is as follows:

Subject No of questions
Part I Physics 40
Part II Chemistry 40
Part III (a) English Proficiency 15
(b) Logical Reasoning 10
Part IV Mathematics/Biology (For B.Pharm) 45
Total: 150

There are no sectional time limits in BITSAT exam.
One can freely go back and change any of answers among the 150 questions.

If one answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), one has an option of attempting 12 bonus questions, if there is still time left.
These extra questions are from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only; four questions from each part.
Further, once one has opted for extra questions, one cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
