Pre-Admission Examination for Registered Nursing (PAX RN)

The National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Examination for Registered Nursing (NLN PAX RN) is a standardized examination to enter a nursing school in the United States.

Minimum passing standards vary, and are based on an individual schools entrance requirements. One must have a high school diploma or the GED equivalent prior to taking the pre-admission examination for registered nursing.

Each pre-admission examination consists of three separate multiple-choice examinations.
1. The verbal ability exam assesses word knowledge through sentence completion and reading comprehension.
2. The mathematics exam assesses skill in basic calculations and word problems, and incorporating integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, conversions, graphs, applied mathematics, and algebraic and geometric concepts.
3. The science exam contains questions relating to general science, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and human anatomy and physiology.
