Constable is the lower ranking post of ITBP. A individual is eligible to become constable after getting through departmental promotion tests. Basic salary of the constable would range between Rs. 5200 to Rs. 20200.

A constable can become the Subedar Major after completing 19 years of experience which includes 8 year service as Head Constable, 3 years service as Sub-Inspector and 3 years as Inspector
