Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is a public research institution located in Mumbai, India that is dedicated to basic research in mathematics and the sciences. It is a Deemed University and works under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India.


Stored Particles Atomic Physics Research Collaboration Workshop

The workshop is aimed at bringing together the leading researchers from our country in the accelerator based atomic collision physics and related fields. This meeting is to focus on the possible effort on a joint collaborative experiments using the Stored Particle Atomic Physics Research Collaboration (SPARC) / FAIR at GSI, Darmstadt Germany. Several colleagues from Europe are expected to join.

Topics Covered During the Workshop

The tentative list of topics to be covered,

Present atomic physics research in GSI, Darmstadt
Outline of the proposed FAIR facility and SPARC activity (HITRAP/CRYring etc)
Plasma Physics and Application related to GSI
Collisions between ions and atoms
Interaction slow and fast with solids, surfaces, clusters and bio-molecules
Electronic charge transfer, ionization and excitation
Accelerator techniques/instrumentation/detectors
Interaction slow and fast with solids, surfaces, clusters and bio-molecules
Strong Field physics and Ion-Matter Interaction
Advanced theoretical techniques in related fields of ion and electron collisions
Techniques of ion beam guiding and beam modification
Relativistic effects
