In Central Board of Excise and Customs, A Tax Assistant can have three types of postings

Excise
Service Tax
Customs

The work of a Tax Assistant will comprise mostly of clerical work.

The major task assigned to a Tax Assistant will be to properly dispatch and prepare reports for the department he/ she gets posted in, which can be Excise, Service Tax and Customs.
Required qualification-

Degree from recognized university or equivalent

Stages of Examination-

Two Tier Written Objective Exam, followed by Document Verification

Pay scale-

The salary breakdown of a Tax Assistant working in Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is as follows.

Pay Scale: Rs. 5,200 – 20,200/-
Grade Pay: Rs. 2,400/-
