The University of Portland offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to its students. It offers merit-based aid and need-based aid in addition to scholarships in music, theater, communication studies, athletics, and ROTC.

University of Portland Scholarships

Merit-based Aid
One does not apply for a merit-based scholarship; it is automatically awarded to one who qualifies based on an evaluation of the grades, test scores, and strength of program. It can range from $7,000 annually to $23,000 annually.


Need-based Aid
Need-based financial aid is determined after one submits the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).


International Student Scholarships
International students are eligible for merit-based scholarships.


Music Scholarships
The University offers music scholarships for tuition and private lessons in addition to the University’s financial aid offer. It is awarded by audition (in-person or recorded). It is automatically renewable for four years assuming continued musical and academic progress. There are also performance grants — awarded by annual audition — for talented students who make a significant contribution to a University band, but who are not majors or minors.


Theater Scholarships
Scholarships and grants are available to majors in minors in the theater program.
