The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission for the recruitment officers at the All India level by the Government of India for the scientific management of its forests.

IFS one of the three All India Services. The exam is conducted for recruitment to forestry services of India.

Indian Forest Service is one of the Civil Services of India and belongs to the apex All India Services group. IFS services are placed under various State cadres and joint cadres though they have the mandate to serve both under the State and Central Governments. The main mandate of IFS service is the implementation of the National Forest Policy which aims to ensure environmental stability and maintenance of ecological balance.

UPSC Indian Forest Service Exam 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Education Qualification:
You must hold a Bachelors degree with at least one of the subjects – Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering.
Number of Attempts: Six attempts not applicable in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.

Age Limit:
Minimum: 21 years.
Maximum: 32 years.

Selection Criteria:
Prelims Examination.
Mains Examination.
Interview.

Application Fee:
General Category Applicants (Male): Rs.100/-.
Female/SC/ST/PH Category Applicants: No Fee.
