The Darden School of Business is the graduate business school associated with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was founded in 1955. Application Requirements

GMAT OR GRE Score
The GMAT is offered only as a computer adaptive test in the United States. Darden only evaluate only test score results from tests taken prior to submission of the application. The highest score is used. Scores are valid for five years.
Darden will also accept a GRE score in place of the GMAT. No approval is necessary just applies with the GRE score.

English Language Test Score
The University of Virginia requires demonstrated English proficiency. The recommended way to demonstrate English proficiency is to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or PTE score.

Resume
One needs to prepare a business resume that includes employment history in reverse chronological order, with titles, dates and whether worked part-time or full-time.
Also include a similar education history that includes dates and degrees, listed in reverse chronological order. It should not be more than one page long.

Essay
Use the essay to display writing skills and tell more about oneself. One will be asked to organize a persuasive argument to show us how one think about and approach business challenges.
Emphasize those experiences, values and goals that are most important and meaningful to one. The essay question field is large enough to answer the question thoroughly.

Recommendations
Two recommendations that address the questions asked on recommendation form are required. Generally, work-related recommendations are more valuable than academic-related recommendations. All recommendations must be submitted electronically.

Interviews
An evaluative interview is conducted by invitation only after application has been submitted and reviewed by the admissions committee.
Interviews play a critical role in assessment of candidates and are required prior to acceptance into the program.

Transcripts
It is expected that all applicants to Darden will have either completed their bachelor's degree at a college or university in the United States or hold a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year American baccalaureate degree.
Darden will also recognize undergraduate degrees that were earned in only three years of study.

It does not require official transcripts in order to process application and get it to the committee for review. One has 2 options for submitting a transcript - the first option is to scan the official or unofficial transcript as a PDF and upload it in the educational history section of the application and second option is to mail us the transcript.

Residency/In-State Status
Residency status is assigned by the Virginia Status Office at the University.

Visa Information
International applicants are required to submit a supplemental Darden Request for Form I-20 outlining the financial resources available for their study in the United States. All I-20 documentation must be original. No photocopies or faxes are accepted.

Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee of $250 must accompany the application. Online application fees can be paid by credit card through Darden's secure server or by check, money order or cashier's check.
Credit card payments are preferred.
