Ghosh Dr Balaram Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology Delhi
Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (IGIB) is a prime Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), employed in research of national importance in the fields of genomics, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, proteomics and environmental biotechnology. Balaram Ghosh has studied several immunological and genetic aspects of asthma during his long career.

Aside from validating the role of many candidate genes, his group identified a number of novel polymorphic loci and demonstrated a novel association of INPP4A gene with asthma. Recently, his group has identified a human Microrna that assures the expression of Interleukin-10. He also demonstrated for the first time the involvement of mitochondria in allergic asthma.

Balaram Ghosh is presently centering on:
1. Identification and development of Immuno modulators for asthma/allergy
2. Regulation of expression of cell adhesion molecules and cytokines
3. MIRNA-mediated regulation of the immune system
