GMAT Exam Format

The GMAT tests the fundamental skills-Reasoning and Comprehension included-and does not require any subject-specific theoretical study. The GMAT begins with Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA). The test-taker is required to write 2 short essays. The GMAT provides a simple word-processing program for this purpose. Each essay has to be completed in exactly 30 minutes. The Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) examination consists of three main parts, the Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative section, and Verbal section. Unlike most standardized tests, the GMAT is not typically administered in a paper-and-pencil format. The vast majority of students can take the GMAT only on computer, in the form of a computer-adaptive test, or CAT for short.
