Founded in 1937, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University (JRNRVU) at Udaipur is one of the prime distance learning centers in the state of Rajasthan. It has been sanctioned by Distance Education Council, DEC, New Delhi. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has graded it with B++ grade. Accepted by the University Grant Commission (UGC), it got the position of a deemed university in 1987 because of its outstanding achievement in teaching.

After its origination the Vidyapeeth has religiously worked in the field of Adult and Continuing teaching and in its continuation, the university has founded the Directorate of Distance teaching in 2000-2001 and offered several professional, traditional programmes throughout the nation
