The Diploma in Welding is planned to furnish more advanced abilities than either Certificate programs. These advanced abilities present the graduate with increased job opportunities. To achieve this, the Diploma consists of eleven (11) technical program, plus an English, a mathematics, and a psychology or economics program. Six (6) of the technical program are found in the Certificate programs. The International Welding Diploma is a eligibility which demonstrates that the holder has completed minimum requirements for the education, training and examinations which impart him/her specific knowledge relevant to responsibilities in welding coordination.

The International Welding Diploma in circumstance. ISO 14731 Welding coordination – Tasks and responsibilities, determines that responsible welding coordination personnel shall be capable to demonstrate adequate general and particular knowledge in welding and allied procedures to perform these tasks. The standard also determines in its Annex A that welding coordination personnel holding the International Welding Specialist (IWS), Technologist (IWT), or Engineer (IWE) diploma may be regarded to gratify the specific knowledge requirements of ISO 14731. The diploma can only be issued through an Authorised National Body (ANB), as launched through the International Institute of Welding. There is only one ANB per nation member. TWI Certification Ltd is the ANB in the United Kingdom.
