Eligibility Criteria for Civil Services (IAS & IPS) Exam:

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

Candidate must hold a degree in any discipline from any of Universities or possess an equivalent qualification.

Nationality
Candidate must be either :
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee

Age Limit
Attained the age of 21 years
Not have attained the age of 32 years

Relaxation:
Up to a maximum of five years
For SC /ST candidates

Up to a maximum of three years
For Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates

Up to a maximum of five years :
For candidates domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir

Number of Attempts

General Candidates :
Six attempts

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes:
Unlimited

Other Backward Classes,
Nine attempts.

Physically handicapped
Nine attempts.
