BITS Pilani was ranked No. 4 in terms of mean citation rate (behind IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur and UICT Mumbai),

No. 15 in terms of total number of papers published.

No. 2 in share of papers resulting from international collaboration (behind IIT Kanpur)

No. 12 in terms of a complex performance index described in that journal article

According to Asiaweek magazine's rankings of Science and Technology schools in the Asia-Pacific region BITS Pilani, Pilani campus was in the top 20[98] in Asia and Top 5, in the year 2000
