The Joint Entrance Examination is now a two stage exam. The first stage is JEE Main. This is similar to AIEEE and is conducted to by CBSE.

The candidates who qualify this exam, clear a specific cut off as laid down by IITs , and are in the top 20 percentile of their boards are eligible to be ranked for JEE Advanced.

The JEE Advanced exam is along the lines of IIT JEE and is conducted by IITs
