Can you tell me about the reservation policy for physically handicapped candidates for admission to M Tech Program in Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi through GATE?

The Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi runs two M. Tech. program - Textile Engg and Fibre Science and Technology.

Direct Admission
Self-supporting students fulfilling the following criteria may be considered eligible for direct admission without test/interview:-


General Candidates
One with B Tech./ M. Sc or equivalent degree with 75% marks (or CGPA 8.5)


SC/ST Candidates (within the quota)
One with B Tech or equivalent degree with 70% marks (or CGPA 7.5) Further if one has GATE percentile >95 (75 for SC/ST candidates) can be offered assistantship also.


Admission through Test/Interview

Seats remaining after admission of candidates through Direct Admission will be filled through test/interview.

70% weightage will be given to GATE score and rest for performance in test/interview.


Eligibility

One satisfying the criteria will be considered eligible for admission:

B Tech or equivalent degree holders who have qualified GATE with a valid score

One with AMIE/Grad IETE qualifications may be considered for admission to the M Tech programmes. If selected for admission, they would be required to complete 24 valid undergraduate credits prescribed by the concerned Department/Interdisciplinary Programme by getting them admitted as casual Students and would also be required to qualify GATE before being actually admitted.

One (full-time/sponsored/part-time) with or without GATE should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters of the qualifying exam\) or CGPA 6.75 on a 10-point scale as determined by IIT Delhi in their qualifying exam.

Relaxation in CGPA up to 6.25 or 55% in the eligibility criteria e given to SC/ST candidates
For those appearing in the final year, their performance up to 7th semester (B Tech/BE) will be considered at the time of admission.

Relaxation in CGPA up to 5.75 on a 10 point scale or to 50% may be permitted for physically handicapped candidates.


Reservation of Seats :
15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates in all the programmes.

3 seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates for admission to MTech and PhD programmes together.

Minimum cut-off GATE Percentile for admission : No admission to M. Tech. program will be made if the GATE percentile is below the under mentioned cut-off:

For General Category: 75 percentile

For SC/ST Category: 50 percentile
