An Assistant Loco Pilot or assistant driver is equally responsible for safe and efficient movement of locomotives (trains) as that of a loco pilot. Also known as Loco running staff they are classified as

•Loco Pilot (Mail and Express)
•Loco Pilot (Passenger)
•Loco Pilot (Goods)
•Shunting Loco Pilot
• Assistant Loco pilot

Educational Qualifications:
1) One must complete the minimum 10th standard
2) One needs to complete the ITI in any specific trade to apply for this post
3) One who completed the Diploma in Engineering are also eligible

Age Limit:
Minimum age of the aspiring candidate should be 18 years and maximum age limit is 30 years


Medical Standards:
One must have high leveled medical standard which is no other category required so far.
Loco running men/railway drivers must have the highest standard of medical fitness in medical.
This medical standard has to maintain from the period of joining and up to the end of carrier as Railway driver.


Selected procedure:-
Those who are short listed for an aptitude test need to produce vision certificate in per prescribed format during aptitude test. Those who do not produce this certificate will not be permitted for aptitude test.

Appointment of selected candidates would be subject to medical test conducted by Railway administration followed by verification of documents and antecedent (character) verification.
