Strategy For UPSC
 
I am planning to apply for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and want details related to this exam. Can you provide me exam pattern and Strategy For UPSC so that I can prepare well for this exam also provide list of posts I can join after given UPSC Exam?

UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission which was established under
Article 315 of Indian constitution

The major role played by it is recruitment to various Central Civil Services and posts and
Services common to Union and state

Exam Strategy:

Preliminary Examination

The Examination shall comprise of two Papers of 200 marks each

General Studies – Paper I
CSAT – Paper II

SUBJECT NO. of Questions MARKS ALLOCATED

1. General Studies (Paper I) 100 200
2. CSAT (Paper II) 80 200

TOTAL 400

Both the question papers will be of the objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).

The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.

In the First paper – General Studies, questions will be asked from Current Affairs, Geography, Polity, History, Economy, Science & Technology and Environment/Ecology.

In the Second Paper – CSAT, questions will be asked from Aptitude, Reasoning, Comprehension, Decision-Making (Qualifying with 33% marks)

UPSC is an examination conducted for the following branches

* Indian Administrative Services (IAS)
* Indian Police Service (IPS)
* Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
* Indian Railway Service (IRS)
* Indian Postal Service (IPS)
* Indian Audit and Accounts Services (IA & AS)
* Indian Civil Accounts Services (ICAS)
* Indian Customs and General Excise Services (IC & GES)
* Indian Defence Accounts Services (IDAS)
* Indian Revenue Service Officers (IRSO)
* Indian Ordinance Factories Services
* Indian Information Service (IIS)

Date of Notification: 28 September, 2016
Last Date to Apply: 21 October, 2016
Date of Preliminary Exam: 8 January, 2017
Date of Main Exam: 14 May, 2017
