It is a examination for getting the admission in master’s programs for engineering students.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an national level examination understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.

GATE is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IIT's on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.

Eligibility:
Following are the eligibility criteria for appearing in GATE examination.
1. Candidates have Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2)/Computer application and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

2. Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes can also eligible for GATE.
