IIT Delhi For PhD Admission

Hi I want to get admission in the PhD course of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) for IIT Delhi so can you please tell me that what is the admission eligibility and the way of admission ???

Well the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is a public research university located in Delhi, India.

PhD Eligibility

At least 60% (SC/ST 55%) marks on the aggregate in the MA degree or equivalent. There is a relaxation upto 55% for candidates from a Literature background.

Admissions to the Ph.D. Programme at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at IIT Delhi are held twice a year.

Applications are usually invited in March and October each year and the selection process is completed in May and December.

Intake in particular academic fields will be determined by the advertisement that is put out each time.

Admission to certain academic areas may be open only in March.

Way of Admission

You need to have qualified the UGC/ NET or Junior Research Fellowship.

This will entitle the student to a fellowship and the student would be assigned as a Teaching Assistant for the HSS faculty.

Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of minimum qualifications.

Shortlisted candidates would be invited to appear for a written test at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

There will be further shortlisting on the basis of the performance in the written test.

Those shortlisted after the written test would have to appear for an interview.

The written test and the interview will be scheduled on the same day or at most withing two days.
