IIT Madras set up in 1959, is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research.

As you want here I am telling IIT Madras Central Electronics Centre was established in 1971 within IITM with the objective of servicing and maintaining a wide variety of sophisticated electronic equipment.

The need for training service engineers for maintaining the electronic equipment was felt and an 18 month training program was started in the same year. Since then, conducting such training program has become one of the important activities of the Centre. The significant advantage, this Centre has over other similar organizations is the mixed environment, i.e. a blend of academic environment and industry type working atmosphere.
