Indian Civil Services Exam Pattern

I have decided to apply for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination searching for exam details. Can you tell what the eligibility to apply for this exam along with pattern of exam so I can prepare well also provide important dates to apply for exam?

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's central agency authorised to conduct the Civil Services Examination, Indian Forest Service examination and many other exams.

Eligibility:

A degree of graduation in any stream from any recognized University recognized by the University grants Commission as lay down by the Parliament and the Legislature.
The candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination and are waiting for the result are also eligible to apply provided they submit the certificate of qualification along with the mark sheet to the UPSC in the DAF before the Main Exam.

Exam pattern:

The IAS Preliminary exam (objective / multiple choice questions type) has two papers:

i. Paper – I (General Studies: duration – 2 hours; Marks – 200)

ii. Paper – II (Civil Services Aptitude Test duration – 2 hours; Marks – 200)
