The Research Unit of IGNOU was established in October 2008. It is the nodal unit for managing all research related activities and running the Research Degree Programmes of the University.

The maximum durations of the PhD Programme and the MPhil programme are 5 years and 4 years respectively

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU MPhil PhD Admission

For MPhil

Master’s Degree of any recognized University/other qualifications recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University; the minimum eligibility criteria is 55% marks at Post Graduation level [50% in case of reserved categories {SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy) and PWD}]

For PhD

You must be Master’s Degree and/or MPhil in the relevant discipline. However, candidates holding MPhil Degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR)
