Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), situated at Thiruvananthapuram is a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. IIST functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India.

IIST B.Tech Admissions-

4-Year B.Tech. ( Aerospace Engineering )

4-Year B.Tech ( Avionics )

5-Year Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.S./M.Tech.)

The 5-year Dual Degree programme leads to B.Tech. degree in Engineering Physics and any of the following Post-Graduate degree specializations:

(i) M.S. (Astronomy & Astrophysics) (ii) M.S. (Earth System Science) (iii) M.S. (Solid State Physics) (iv) M.Tech. (Optical Engineering) (There is no exit option at the end of four years).

Eligibility Criteria

candidates of GEN/OBC should have an aggregate of at least 70% in Physics, chemistry and mathematics in the qualifying examination.

The reserved category candidates should have the minimum percentage of 60% in PCM subjects of the qualifying examination.

The candidates seeking to take admission in IIST 2016 should have the age from 1, October 1991 onwards (for GEN/OBC).

For SC/ST/PD candidates, the age should be after 1, October 1986.

The Admission will be done through JEE Advance score cutoff list

Reservation of Seats-

As per the policy of India government, the candidates from the backward classes have some relaxation of seats in percentile according to their category shown below:

Scheduled Castes (SC) : 15%

Scheduled Tribes (ST) : 7.5%

Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) : 27%

Persons with Disabilities (PD) : 3% (Horizontal Reservation)
