The University of Jammu was established in 1969 by an Act of the State Legislature which effectively split the Jammu and Kashmir University into the separate Universities of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu & Kashmir State Entrance Test is abbreviated as J&K SET. J&K SET is the post graduate entrance examination which is conducted by University of Kashmir and University of Jammu.

Eligibility Criteria for JK SET

• Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD category candidates) (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Sciences, Humanities (including languages) and Social Science etc.
• The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
• There is no upper age limit for the entrance examination.

Important Dates of JK SET 2016

• The online application starts from May 2016
• The last date to fill the application form will be by June 2016
• Admit card will be provided a week prior to the examination
• Entrance examination will be conducted by August 2016
• Results will be declared by August 2016
• Counselling process will start by September 2016
