Objective This course aims at developing understanding of the processes of language use, problem solving, creativity and reasoning and their various applications. Unit I Language and the Brain; The Localization View; Speech Disorders, Errors in Speaking, Cognitive Tasks Involved in Writing

Unit II Language Comprehension: Speech Perception, Spoken Word Recognition, Visual Word Recognition, Models of Text Representation and Processing Inference in Reading, Bilingualism.

Unit III Creativity: Nature and Meaning, Factors Affecting Creativity Development of Creativity.

Unit IV Problem Solving: Classification of Problems; Problem Solving Approaches; Means End Heuristics and The Analogy Approach Decision-Making: Algorithms and Heuristics Representatives, Availability Anchoring and Adjustment; The Framing Effect and Overconfidence in Decisions.
