Compulsory Papers:- Kannada and English
The aim of these papers is to test the ability of the candidates to read and
understand serious discursive prose and to express ideas clearly and correctly in Kannada
and English.
The pattern of questions would be broadly as follows:

Paper - II - English
1. Comprehension of given passages - 25 marks
2. Precis writing - 25 marks
3. Usage - 25 marks
4. Vocabulary - 25 marks
5. Short Essay - 25 marks
6. Communication Skills - 25 marks

Paper III - General Studies
1. Modern History of India and Indian Culture with special reference to the History
and Culture of Karnataka
2. Current events of State, National and International importance
3. Statistical Analysis, Graphs and Diagrams

Paper IV – General Studies
1. Indian Polity with special reference to Karnataka State
2. Indian Economy and Geography of India with Special reference to Karnataka
Economy and Karnataka Geography
3. The roll and impact of Science and Technology in the development of
Karnataka and India.
