National Archive of India is a repository of the non-current records of the Government of India and is holding them in trust for the use of administrators and scholars. National archive of India is set up in 11 March 1891 in Kolkata and it is transferred in Delhi in 1911. National archive of India holding records starting from the year 1748 A.D. These are English, Arabic, Hindi, Persian, Sanskrit. These records are on paper, palm leaf, birch bark, parchment etc.

National archive of India also offers archival studies. The Institute of Archival Training was established in 1976.

One year diploma course in archival studies

Eligiblity for course in archival studies is if you have M.A (History) second class (with minimum 50% marks in aggregate) with one optional paper in Modern Indian History (Post 1750 AD) from recognized university.

Or you have M.Sc. degree in applied/physical sciences with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university.
