Default Re: NDA Mpumalanga

The National Development Agency (NDA) is a public entity, listed under schedule 3A of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act 1 of 1999.

The primary mandate of the NDA are-

Carrying out projects or programmes aimed at meeting development needs of poor communities; and

Strengthening the institutional capacity of other civil society organisations involved in direct service provision to poor communities

Services-

Capacity Building

The Capacity Building programme is designed to ensure that civil society organisations (CSOs) have the institutional capacity to undertake the work that they are supposed to be doing.

The NDA’s approach to Capacity Building

The NDA uses a three-step approach to ensure that its capacity building interventions are sustainable. These are:

Training
Mentorship
Incubation

Areas of intervention being offered to strengthen organisations

Governance
Organisational Management and Leadership
Financial Management – Basic bookkeeping and financial management
Conflict Management
Project Management
Strategic Direction
Operational Management
Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

Projects Management Services

The Project Management Unit (PMU) is a critical component of the NDA that provides project management services to the organisation.

The unit provides expert management of projects value chain underpinned by significant track record of working with civil society organisations.

Early Childhood Development

Early Childhood Development Programme-

ECD has been recognized as one of the most powerful tools of breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty in South Africa.

Children who participate in well-conceived ECD programs tend to be more successful in school, are more competent socially and emotionally, and show higher verbal and intellectual development during early childhood than children who are not enrolled in high quality programs.
