Institute of Information Technology (IIT), University of Dhaka started in June 2001 to create efficient manpower in information technology.

IIT currently offers Master of Science in Software Engineering (MSSE), Master in Information Technology (MIT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT).

Graduate programs

MSSE

This is the only research oriented M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering in Bangladesh.

Software engineering is a systematic and disciplined approach to developing software.

It is now more than an integrated approach of design, development, QA and maintenance rather than only programming.

Admission-

A four years BIT (SE) (or BSc in Software Engineering degree) is the qualification for entering into this one and half year Masters program.

This will be a three semester (one and half year) full time program, where there will be two explicit parts.

Half the semester credits will be allocated for theoretical studies to prepare students to do research. The rest will be allocated to do research and formal publications.

MIT (Evening)-

The program extends over two-semesters/one academic year of full-time study.

Classes will be held in the evening.

The program requires minimum 36 credit hours of course work.

PGDIT (Evening)-

The Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT) is a one-year program for graduates in any discipline on the principles and practice of Information Technology.

The PGDIT program is offered mainly to the graduates who are willing to work in ICT domain or the graduates whose current or future career could be accelerated through advanced knowledge in ICT.

The classes of the program will run four days a week from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

The number of seats for PGDIT is forty (40).
