Introduction:
Tata Institute of Social Sciences was found in 1936, TISS is the first school of social work in India. In 1964 Tata Institute of Social Sciences was recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, Accreditation of TISS from AICTE.

The primary mission of the TISS is to enhance human well- being and help meet basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. The Tata Institute of Social Sciences organizes teaching programmes to facilitate the development of competent and committed professionals for practice, research and teaching, undertakes research, develops and disseminates knowledge, and reaches out to the larger community through extension, at the local, national, regional and international levels.

TISS follows the following structure for the selection in various courses.
National Common Written Test: 100 Marks
Pre-Interview Test prior to Personal Interview: 50 Marks
Personal Interview: 75 Marks

Common Entrance Test: - Common Entrance Test will be held on January 13, 2013, in 25 centers in all parts of the country
