Can you tell me about the eligibility requirement for admission to the Ph D Programme at Gauhati University? Also tell me about the Disciplines other than Management in which Ph D program is offered?

The admission to the PhD Programme at Gauhati University is a highly competitive process and prospective PhD Scholars need to go through a screening process (GU-RET) after completion of the Central Application Process (CAP).

Eligibility:-

One must have passed Masters level exam from a university / institute recognised by the UGC.

One must have scored 55% or Grade B equivalent in your Masters examination

Qualifying Examination:
For admission into the PhD Programme, one must have passed a course which is equivalent to the two-year Masters Programme, which is usually taken after 12 years of school and 3 years of undergraduate course, completing a total of 15 years of education.

One must have had 17 years of formal education before admission into a PhD Programme. Though, this may vary depending on different disciplines.

One appearing in the final qualifying exam (viz. 4th Semester of Masters Programme) is eligible to apply in CAP and appear in GU-RET. However, the admission into the PhD Programme is subject to successful completion of the Masters Programme.

A relaxation of 5% is applicable to reserved category students.
