Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is a distance learning university founded in 1996, located in Mysore, Karnataka, India.

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has issued notifications calling for applications in prescribed forms from eligible candidates for enrolment in Ph.D programmes in the university.

PhD eligibility:

The eligibility criterion is that candidates should have obtained any Masters Degree from the KSOU or other universities with a minimum of 55 per cent (50 per cent for SCs, STs, category I and physically challenged candidates) marks.

Selection process:

Selection of candidates would be based on a centralised entrance test, interview and marks obtained in the qualifying examinations in the ratio of 50:50 and overall minimum of 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for SCs, STs, category I) as per the merit-cum-reservation policy.

Candidates, who have qualified for the UGC, CSIR, NET, SLET, GATE, teacher fellowship holder, M.Phil degree and working under sponsored major research projects, are exempted from the entrance test.
