UNIT 2 – CRITICAL ANALYSIS ON CONSTITUTIONAL PERSPECTIVES 18Hrs.
Constitutional Feminism: Directive Principles of State Policy – Interpretation of Article 15(1) and 15 (3) – Right or
Privilege – Constitutional Amendment for women's representation in legislatures by reservation – Recognition of Third
Gender: National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) verdict, 2014 – Rights and Protection.

UNIT 3 – INTERNATIONAL APPROACH 18Hrs.
Gender Justice Under International Conventions and Declarations: UDHR- Convention on the Political Rights of
Women 1953 – ILO and Women – Provisions under the International Conventions on Civil and Political Rights –
Conventions on Socio, Economic and Cultural Rights, 1966 – CEDAW 1979 – Declaration on the Elimination of Violence
Against Women, 1993 – Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination of Women, 1999 –
International Human Rights Conventions about Third Gender.

UNIT 4 – GENDER JUSTICE AND PERSONAL LAWS 17Hrs.

and Divorce – Maintenance – Guardianship- Adoption – Inheritance Rights – Movement of Uniform Civil Code – Concept of

Cruelty to Married Women- Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 – Special Legislations: Immoral Traffic (Prevention Act)
1956 – Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986 – Prevention of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005,
Sexual Harassment of women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 – Law relating to Employment
and Labour Conditions – Article 377 and Third Gender – Recent Amendments.
