Is South Indian Bank Is Government Bank

My friend told me the South Indian Bank is a private Bank, but as per my information this is a Government Bank. So can you please give me right information? Actually the South Indian Bank has released recruitment for the post of Probationary Officer, so I want to know that this Bank is Government or not before applying for this recruitment.
