South Malabar Gramin Bank History

My sister has to make a project on South Malabar Gramin Bank. So she wants history of this Bank. So can anybody tell her about history of South Malabar Gramin Bank?

The South Malabar Gramin Bank was created under Regional Rural Banks Act 1976.

It was a Regional Rural Bank in India.

It had its headquarters at Malappuram in Kerala.

Its area of operation was limited to 8 districts in Kerala, India.

Now the South Malabar Gramin Bank is known as Kerala Gramin Bank (KGB).

The bank was formed by amalgamating the two RRBs of Kerala namely South Malabar Gramin Bank and North Malabar Gramin Bank.

The head office of Kerala Gramin Bank is at Malappuram and the sponsor bank is Canara Bank.

Kerala Gramin Bank is the largest Regional Rural Bank in the country with a total business of above Rs. 26,800 Crore and a network of 600 branches spread all over Kerala.

The share capital of the bank is Rs. 2 Crore contributed by the Central Government, State Government and Sponsor Bank in the ratio 50:15:35 respectively.
