Combined Matric Level Exam exam is conducted by Staff selection Commission SSC every year for the recruitment of clerks and other lower level staff like a) Grade ‘C’ Stenographers b) L.D.C. c) Grade ‘D’ Stenographers in Customs Houses, Central Government offices/organisations like Central Secretariat Services, Railway Boards, Election Commission of India, Central Vigilance Commission etc. besides income tax department.

Combined Matric Level Exam Eligibility

Matric from a recognized Board or equivalent

Age-

18 to 27 years of age is required for the various posts

However age may vary a couple of years for different posts.

Nationality/Citizenship

A citizen of India or

A subject of Nepal or

A subject of Bhutan

A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African, Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Exam Pattern-

This type of Staff Selection Exam Paper consists of two steps.

In first step preliminary examination is held.

Those who are able to clear this test are allowed to take the main examination.

Paper Marks Duration

Part A
General Intelligence 100

Part-B 2 Hrs
General Awareness 100

Both parts A & B will be of objective type ( multiple choice type) Question paper (Test Booklets) for both the parts in Preliminary Exam will be set in both in English and Hindi.

Combined Matric Level Exam Syllabus

The contents of this type of Preliminary SSC Exam are as follows:-

General Intelligence : The syllabus for General Intelligence would include questions of both verbal and non verbal type. The test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidates' abilities to deal with abstract ideas, any symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.

General Awareness : Questions will be designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, and Geography, economic scene, General polity, Indian Constitution and scientific research, etc.
